In addition to the normal service which the company undertakes regularly for clients, Special Structures Lab are providing a service to event and festival organisers for the certification of large portable structures such as stages and tents. This scheme uses a standard set of rules, available to all, to prove the structures integrity, provided it is installed to specification.

These standard rules, called Rudi-60 Type Approval, Rudi-80 Type Approval and Rudi-100 Type Approval have been laid down by Rudi Enos (see who has 35 years experience of the design, analysis, manufacture, transport, maintenance and installation of these large scale structures. Some event organisers and local authorities have indicated that they will be specifying these rules in the future. In any case, it is better to have a set of rules which are transparent and apply equally to all.
