Seminar 2012 - Examining Large Temporary Structures

the event - 28th & 29th March 2012 - Royal Victoria Hotel - Sheffield

The need for this event has been triggered by the dreadful events that have happened in our industry this summer. Large tented structures (in this case we consider a large stage as a frame tent) are being used more and more with an estimated 400 structures in the UK. It is hoped that this seminar will increase awareness of the real issues regarding the inspection of installations which can be complex and less understandable than traditional structures. We also hope that it will become a forum for this specialist part of the industry.  In addition, Alexander Pavic, the head of the Vibration Engineering Research section of the University Of Sheffield who is co-hosting the event, will show new monitoring procedures and measures which may have an impact on the temporary structures industry in the future.

The event which costs £185 for both days will not only feature a two day seminar on the inspection of large span temporary structures and the accompanying reference book issued to all attendees but also an evening dinner sponsored by the Guild Of Tentmasters. There is no cost for the dinner and attendees do not have to stay at the hotel to attend the dinner. Both days will feature welcome tea, coffee and danish, morning and afternoon coffee and tea breaks with biscuits, and a 2 Course Hot & Cold Conference Buffet Lunch served in the Restaurant, Grand Lounge or in the Meeting Room each day. Unlike most city centre hotels, there is ample parking at the Royal Victoria Hotel at a reduced seminar price of £5 per day. The venue is 10 minutes from junction 34 of the M1 near Sheffield city centre and only 10 minutes walk from the train and bus stations.
